The easiest way to visit Myra is through the town of Kale, not the track that indicates a 4 kilometre downhill walk from the main road overlooking the town! The site is in the process of being heavily restored and the tombs themselves are off limits to the public so the painted sections are no longer visible.

The theatre is undergoing some radical restoration work. This can be seen in the use of stainless steel rods which are inserted into pre cut holes in the stones. The ends of the rods then being set by an epoxy resin that sets rock hard. Torsion bolts in the rods are then tightened. Some stones have had steel pins inserted.
