Olympus can be approached either from the sea, often a useful stop off for the gullet tours, or inland off the Antalya-Finike road. The site is sign posted. Olympus has had a varied life, from being one of the founders and voting member of the Lycian Federation became a settlement for pirates who frequented these coasts. However the Romans under Servillius Isaurieus drove them out in 78 B.C. Above the city high up in the hills the eternal fire in Cirali can be seen from the sea, also known as The Chimera, a creature with the head of a lion, the body of a she goat and the tail of a snake. The creature breathed out flames from his mouth.

An example of the way modern tourism is being promoted in Turkey today with well illustrated and informative boards placed in the sites.

The city wall that encloses the ruins of the city. Due to the heavy vegetation more or less impossible to explore!

The necropolis.

These hillside tombs in the necropolis use simple but very large stone blocks, contrasting very sharply to the more elaborate sarcophagus found near the seaward side of the site.

The remains of part of the city wall ending in the sea!
